Ten Shelby County girls will compete in the Miss Shelby County Teen pageant at the fair Tuesday. The winner will compete in the Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair pageant. The contestants, 13- to 16-years-old who all attend Shelby County High School, are judged on beauty, poise and personality.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, they will compete in shorts attire, followed by formal attire at 6:30 p.m. From the contestants, five finalists will be selected. A first runner-up and winner will be selected from the finalists. Miss Congeniality will be selected from the contestants. The winner will reign at the Shelby County Fair and must participate in other community related activities.
The winner will receive $250 cash from the Shelby County A & M Association.
The Shelby County Ladies Auxiliary, under the auspices of the Shelby County Fair Board, sponsors the pageant.
The contestants are:
Jessica Renea Castro is the daughter of Kristy and Keith Woods. She enjoys cheering at Shelby County High School, being in her church youth group, participating in FCCLA at Shelby County High School, Diversity club at Shelby County High School, traveling to new places, and meeting new people.
Victoria McGuire is the daughter of Heather and Homer Cook and Travis and Amanda McGuire. She enjoys playing softball for the Rockets for the last 3 years, playing Lady Power Summer Softball, being a member of her youth group at Waddy Baptist Church, and being a part of the Shelby County High School Chorus.
Haley Charissa Overby is the daughter of Julie Moore and Stace Overby. She enjoys cheerleading at Shelby County High School, participating in FCCLA, volunteering in the Shelby County Sensational Pageant, playing the flute, gardening and spending time with my family and friends.
Madison Aubury Pumphrey is the daughter of Cindy Pumphrey. She enjoys being a part of Collins Academic Academy, Collins cheerleading, being a part of Finchville Baptist Church Youth Group, 4-H CIT, spending time with family and friends, beta club, drama club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Titan Nation.
Anna Claire Schaefer is the daughter of Kurt and Alica Schaefer. She enjoys being a part of the Shelby County High School varsity dance team, volunteering for Special Olympics, being a member of the Shelby County High School Academy of Excellence and spending time with family and friends.
Sarah Sharp is the daughter of Sheila and Sam Woods. She enjoys Shelby County High School volleyball, hanging out with friends, going fishing, riding horses, attending Shelbyville Church of Christ youth group, swimming and tanning.
Taylor McKenzie Smitha is the daughter of Amy and Jerry Smitha. She enjoys cheerleading, soccer, softball, doing mission trips with her church, modeling, choir, being in pageants, babysitting and playing with her little brothers, and running with her dad.
Miranda Tirbs is the daughter of Christine and Tracy Tirbs. She enjoys dancing, swimming, spending time with family and friends, photography, volunteering with children at Capital City Dance Studio, being a member of the diversity club, participating in Shelby Rocket games, being a member of the eighth-grade student council, being student class manager, and being a part of the 2011 football Homecoming court.
Sydney Wright is the daughter of Heather and Chris Kriel and Mac and Holly Wright. She enjoys playing softball, riding horses, swimming, hanging out with friends and family, being on the boat, being a part of the Shelby County High School varsity softball team, being a part of chorus, being a member of concert choir, and being vice president of concert choir.
Kaitlyn Quach is the daughter of Viet and Cherry Quach. She is 15 years old and a sophomore at Shelby County High School. She enjoys playing the flute, running, spending time with family and friends and reading.
