The contestants must have reached her 16th birthday by Oct. 31 and shall not have reached her 22nd birthday by Oct. 31 of the year when the contest is held. Contestants will be judged from the standpoint of beauty, poise and personality.
At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, they will compete in shorts attire, followed by formal attire at 7:30 p.m. There is also a private showing in bathing attire for judges only.
Five finalists will be selected from the contestants, and a first runner-up and winner will then be selected.
The winning contestant will have the privilege of participating in the "Miss County Fair of Kentucky" contest, in connection with the convention of the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows.
The winner will receive $250 cash -- compliments of the Shelby County A&M Association; roses -- compliments of American Beauty Florist; a tiara --compliments of Carol and Company Fine Jewelry, and a silver tray -- compliments of the beauty pageant committee. Miss Congeniality will receive a gift from Merle Norman Cosmetics and Gifts. The runner up will receive a silver tray, compliments of the Kiwanis Club.
The winner and runner-up will receive a monetary scholarship to the college of their choice. This scholarship will be sent to the college upon enrollment and confirmation.
The winner will reign at the Fair and must participate in other community-related activities including the State Fair opening day ceremonies.
The Shelby County A&M Association sponsors the event.
