‘Sprout’ learners

-A A +A

Soil. Sprout. Roots. Stem. Even the word photosynthesis. That was the type of vocabulary heard in Brittany Biermann’s preschool classroom at Painted Stone Elementary. The children had made windowsill gardens and were anxious to see results so the teacher played a time-lapsed movie that showed a seed sprout from beneath the soil. She paused the video as the children identified the stages and provided information like “The leaves pick up the sun”… “It turns it into food”… “The stem sucks up the food and water from the soil.”
